Yet another Marimekko dress

I saw this live on a friend the other day, now I want one too! Or any MM dress! Too bad I’m poor as hell!

Whine whine whine.

Hiya B,

All of a sudden I’m feeling really uninspired with all the blogs I read daily. Maybe it’s because of the daily usage, but everything just feels really stale and everyone seems to be writing about the same things, taking the same kinds of pictures, dressing the same and even decorating their homes alike.

Do you have any good suggestions? New reads? New angles on the life around us? Something fresh.

Oh but yeah… as if you have time these days to read blogs! :D

Toast

Why do I keep torturing myself? Why do I keep browsing Toast’s webshop even though I know it’s wa-hay out of my price range, and even if it wasn’t, I just couldn’t make up my mind between all these lovelinesses… It’s all wearable by me. Definitely.

Dear Outi!I’m a lousy blogger & a crappy friend I feel.. I never seem to find the time & inspiration to blog or write you.
My life has been turned upside down and it’s very exciting & scary! I have so much to tell you and no idea where to start! Hope things will slow down a little bit at some point so maybe we can find a time & date to skype?
I’m thinking of you a lot, sending all my love to you and your lovely family,
B.

Yumm yumm yumm, are you familiar with the greatness of a (vegan) foodblog that is Have Cake, Will Travel? I need to bake some of this loveliness in the near future (= tomorrow)!!!

Random stuff about thrifting and life

I need to get thrifting. From my shopping list:

- oversized knitted sweater (preferably woolly but since it’s thrifted, I’ll also accept more common acrylic JUST THIS ONCE - I hate acrylic, it’s too hot and it gets really nasty looking really soon, plus of course it’s plastic you know)

- lady pants (you know, that baggy cigarette style or high wasted jeans) - or maybe I’ll just pick up some blue pants from H&M, blah.

- a small thrift store is ending it’s business, everything’s 20-50% off. There was a nice 50’s lamp in their window display, originally 85 euros.. I wonder what percentage comes off of that.

Other things:

- It’s our wedding anniversary. I’m feeling reeeally bored being a stay-at-home-mom and not so excited anymore about my plan to cook us a fancy dinner tonight. Seemed like a good idea on Saturday when we went out to celebrate beforehand (Saturdays are much nicer for celebrating than Tuesdays) but now I don’t feel like doing everything - it’s also The Husband’s birthday tomorrow, promised to bake a cake or TWO cakes; one to eat home with friends, the other one to bring to his work :P

- I took the Wee Chile to this musical playgroup for babies. It was better than I expected, only a couple of “OH God oh god How Mind-dumbingly Ridiculous This Is”-moments. The baby seemed to like it, couldn’t take his eyes off everybody else the whole time. Not much mother-son-time there.

- Swimming; it’s great.

Animated albums

Hey, how’s it going? Have you seen the Animated albums blog project? Hilarious! Just stumbled upon it.

P.S. The bangs are all good now. I’m wearing them straight maybe for a while because it’s not a bad look for me either and surprisingly low maintenance (I have curls in my hair in most unfortunate places, for example my forehead).

Hi Outi!

Hope the hair has been growing to a more convenient length/ shape. I still think you look lovely as always!

I’m living very exciting times.. I’m moving to Berlin next week and I just found out that I got accepted into University! Very exciting indeed!

And then I got a phone call from my mother telling me that another little dream had come true: Marimekko is producing the Muija-print again:

Jemina-tunika

Maija-tunika

I really like the shape and cut of these tunics, the only down-side is the sinister colors. So it won’t be a new muija-dress for me. Now I’ll just keep my fingers crossed for more vibrant muija for next spring, maybe?

I also love these:

CT HI Kaleidoskooppi

As I’m writing my dear mom is rushing to the flagstore in Helsinki to pick these babies up for me. Now I know what shoes to wear on my first day of school in october!

Look what the hairdresser did to my bangs. I had to trim it myself to make them work as straight bangs. No one in their right mind should do this to a person with side swept bangs! AND we’re attending a wedding on Saturday! Aaarghh!! This look is way too high maintenance for me, because I don’t ever do my hair. I don’t have to, unless I want to. Now I have to straighten the bangs every day, otherwise they would point straight up. Will do wonders to my coarse, wavy and therefore dry hair. At least hair grows fast!
To top it all, my already three and half months old son is getting a mind of his own. He’s like “Mom, I love you and your crazy diaper changing songs and bouncy games, and I think your boobs are great, with their milk and all. But I’d prefer to have my milk in a bottle please, much easier that way”. Well, I’m glad to inform him that I’m not about to stop breastfeeding just yet. Ughhh it’s been a rough week.
P.S. so glad to hear from you! :)
P.P.S. Maybe I should add that in retrospect my son turning down The Boob is much bigger a problem than me having too short bangs.
